CLM recently held a Military Service Memorial Flagpole dedication to honor those who have served and sacrificed. The dedication was made possible thanks to a designated donation made by the Searles Family, David, a US Army combat veteran and his wife Rebecca, who is a Case Manager at CLM and their young son, Daniel.

In his comments at the dedication Vic Topo, CLM President and CEO stated, “This dedication is about honoring those who have served and sacrificed as well as a reminder of our commitment to care for service members and their families.  It is about honoring the brave men and women who serve, as well as the spouses, parents and children of military families who also make great sacrifices of their own.”HonorGuard

“But it is also about making our commitment as a community mental health provider to do more to care for military members and their families who need support.  We need to work at breaking down the stigma associated with mental illness such as anxiety, depression, substance misuse, or post-traumatic stress disorder.  We need to reach out because too many suffer in silence, reluctant to seek help. We want Veterans and military members to know we support them in their return to civilian life and we are a resource for them here in our community,” stated Topo.

In addition to Topo, speakers at the dedication included: Jo Moncher, Bureau Chief, Community-Based Military Programs from the NH Department of Health and Human Services; NH Senator Regina Birdsell; as well as representatives for both US Senator Jeanne Shaheen and US Senator Kelly Ayotte. Honored special guest speaker was Major General Bill Reddel, Adjutant General of the NH National Guard.  Following the General’s remarks, David Searles shared the deep personal significance the dedication has for him in honoring his fallen comrades as well as helping to spread awareness to help support military members and their families.

The US Army Reserve Honor Guard raised the flag that was flown over the US Capitol on behalf of the CLM Military Service Memorial at the request of US Senator Kelly Ayotte.  Following the raising of the flag, Rebecca Searles closed the dedication with the reading of a poem.
