Spravato® Offers a Different Approach to Your Depression Treatment

Spravato is a nasal spray form of esketamine, a medication derived from ketamine, which works differently from standard antidepressants. Instead of targeting serotonin or dopamine like many common medications, Spravato acts on glutamate, the most abundant neurotransmitter in the brain, helping to restore healthy communication between brain cells and improve mood more rapidly than conventional treatments.

How a Typical Spravato Treatment Cycle Works

  • Initial Phase (Weeks 1–4): Patients typically receive two treatments per week, each administered in a comfortable, supervised clinical setting.
  • Continuation Phase (Weeks 5–8): Treatments are usually reduced to once weekly as symptoms begin to improve.
  • Maintenance Phase (After Week 8):  Depending on the patient’s progress, sessions may continue every one to two weeks for sustained results.

Each treatment session lasts about two hours, during which patients are monitored by our trained medical team to ensure safety and comfort.

Many patients experience noticeable improvements in mood, motivation, and overall functioning—often within hours to days, compared to the weeks traditional antidepressants may take. Spravato has been shown to:

  • Reduce depressive symptoms in individuals who haven’t responded to other medications
  • Enhance overall emotional well-being and daily functioning
  • Offer new hope for those who have struggled for years without relief

I’ve Decided to try Spravato. What’s Next?

After you and your healthcare provider have decided Spravato is right for you —and you understand the risks and benefits— you can start planning for treatment.

  • Spravato is taken with or without an oral antidepressant.
  • You administer Spravato nasal spray yourself under the supervision of a healthcare provider at our certified treatment center.
  • Spravato is taken twice a week for the first four weeks.
  • After the first four weeks, you and your provider will discuss and determine if treatment should be continued and the dose and how often.
